Shine That Sink

Yeah, I know, it has been a while since I have blogged. I think the last time I blogged, I talked about that I missed blogging, and I needed to catch up. I know I only have eight followers, but that's better than zero, right?  Anyway, let's talk about cleaning. Fun stuff, right? I think I have mentioned before on my blog about getting better organized and a cleaning schedule with a little tot running around. :)

I mean come on, who doesn't like a clean, crisp, spotless house, that smells good? I do, but I am not a perfectionist, nor have the time. As I have said before, I would rather color with Delaney, then wash windows or something. My goal is to just have a system. It is impossible to think your house is going to be spotless with a toddler, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I think I just need to de-clutter, and have a solid routine.

Moms, you know how it goes, toys, and clothes accumulate, and before you know it, your guest room, or whatever room, becomes your "panic-room-everytime-I-look-in-it-room". Let's just say, I have a new friend, and I am going to try her system and see how I like it.

Her name is FlyLady
FlyLady cartoon, on www.flylady.net I had a friend tell me about this, and she has been using this system around her house. Here is how to get started, http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/ and here I am on Day 2.

She talks about having a system, and she is really motivational. You house is did not get cluttered in a day, and you can't get it de-cluttered in a day either. She is big on setting a timer for 15 minutes daily and de-cluttering somthing, and not to wear your self-down. I think that is what happens with me, I let things go too long and get overwhelmed. I mean of course I do laundry weekly, change my sheets weekly, etc, but come on, do each one of you all out there in the blogosphere clean up your dishes every night and have a spotless sink? Flylady is big on a clean sink. I will be the first to admit, that I always don't. Even though I might be too tired, I am going to achieve this goal as Flylady's first baby step:always clean up your dishes and sink so they won't overwhelm you the next day, and you can start fresh with clean dishes.

I don't let my dishes pile up for a week or anything like that, I will just do them as I go sometimes, or other times I will have the kitchen all nice and clean. I mean how many times do we get stuff out of the dishwasher to use, if we don't get to putting them up right away? Or is it just me?

Let's get to cleaning those sink's tonight! Does anyone else have a system they do, tried Flylady, or want to join me?

H54F+ramble

Hello there!  It has been over a month since I have blogged. I will admit, I was in a blog funk. I think every blogger, with the exceptions of the super, duper awesome bloggers who get like 150,000,000 views a day, get busy with things, and think that their little-free-blog-domain on blogspot.com doesn't matter.

Well, if you are one of those bloggers and get in blog funks, it does matter. It is probably theraputic sometimes for you and your blog probably helps other people. I think sometimes we are worried about what we say on our blog that will offend somebody. I am not out to do that. at all, I am just speaking for other bloggers.  Some people are more open with their blogs than others, but if someone doesn't like what you have to say, it will be ok. Your true blog followers I think would support you no matter what!

I know that I love reading blogs full of crafts, random tips, expressive stuff, and most importantly mom stuff. I like reading things that have helped me or have been great ideas. So a shout out to all my random blogs that I come upon and love! I don't even know who you are, but your blogs are awesome. To my blog friends, I love reading your blogs to because of that personal connection we have. Like it or not, we live in a social media world full of tweets, and status updates, and blah, blah, blah. I know sometimes that can be overwhelming sometimes. What did we do before all of this? Did we really communicate more and write personal letters and actually verbally communicate more, or is it about the same and  it is just in a different form? Social media definitely has it's pros and cons, for sure. On that note, I feel like I am writing a book report on social media and that this is ramble. HA!!

H54F

1. Delaney bug and I had such an awesome time with Bdile Photography for her 18-month shoot and some mommy-daughter pics. D is getting so big and talking up a storm! Loved them! Check out Bdile Photography on facebook!!

2. Hallowen is next week. I was going to make Delaney's costume again like I did last year, but the one her Nana got her at one of the kids consignment sale is too cute on her to pass up this year. It fits her to a T. Can't wait for you to see it!

3. I watched some of the Blue/White game and as always, we will all support our CATS, but I think we are still hyped up from our #8 win that we still have a lot of warming up to do to this team.

4. My Hot Mess to Hot Mama is still ongoing, but that is just another talk show in itself. I did get my hair trimmed up and some Hot mamish color in it, so it's all good. Also, it is that time of year, for the pounds to go up instead of down. Darn Holiday food, ha!  I will try to pin and try some low cal alternatives to sweet treats that I have had my eye on. I will let you know how they turn out.

5. I know I always post a lot about the weather, but who doesn't love fall!!

Hot Mess Monday!

I have been slacking some on my "Hot Mess" posts. I do, however, want to say, that I am so glad Sarah and Devan are along in this journey together. I think we all are learning from this journey. Even though I am not down 10 pounds, yet, I am more conscious for sure about my eating habits. My starting weight was 156 pounds, and I am 154 pounds this week. Maybe I have just lost inches?  I think I fluctuate, because I fluctuate I guess? I can also still fit into size six jeans with out unbuttoning them, ha! For a while there, I was felt bloated in size 8 jeans. I still wear them, but they are loose!

I think all of us momma's in this journey are learning that we are more than a number on a scale. I may never be 135-145 pounds again, and that is ok. So, from now on, with my posts, I may not rant about losing or gaining a pound, but I will post a healthy tip, an encouraging word for others in this healthier/weight loss journey, still update on the weight loss from time-to-time, or just laugh about how we are all Hot Messes on Monday! ;)

This is my grocery cart from today. Enough said. LOL!

Sweetie pie!

Notice the bottom picture, Laney making a hot mess. :)

H54F

I didn't have a chance to post last Friday, so I will add an extra that I am high fivin'!

1. My Laney is feeling better today! She has had a temp for three days with a ear and viral infection. She picks up on new things everyday and is the sweetest and spunkiest girl I know! Story of the day: getting a sprite can out of the "recycle" trash can and giving it to her babydoll! LOL!

2. As much as I don't like Facebook sometimes, and the drama it can cause, I have loved seeing all of the support and thumbs up for Lane Goodwin, the young Kentucky boy fighting cancer. Delaney and I give him virtual thumbs up for being so strong!

3. This weather brought out my first pot of soup for the season. ;) I made potato soup. I am thinking veggie soup this weekend. What is your favorite soup recipe?

4. Last weekend I had an absolute blast seeing some of my UK alumni friends at the UK AgRoudup. Even though it had been three years since I saw some of them last, it seemed just like yesterday too.

5. I am hopefully about to initiate a better organized house. I know I am a mom,  I have a toddler, I am working on another degree, and I am tired a lot, but I think that I wouldn't have a mini-breakdown every time I entered my house if maybe if I spent a Saturday making some freezer meals in advance or making my breakfast for the week. Tips are always welcome!

6. There is lot of fun things to do for the fall season. Laney went to a pumpkin patch last year, but she was just 5-months-old. I have a friend who made a fall bucket list that was too cute, and  I will probably make soon!

Hot Mess Monday

I know it has been a couple of weeks since I have posted, but the last time I checked in, I said I was going to start stressing less about my weight numbers and focusing more on diet and exercise. Good news is, my size 6 jeans went on pretty well this week. I had been wearing size 8's more, because the 6's were a little too tight for me. Bad news is, I still weigh the same. I mean it is not really bad news, it is just not where I would exactly like to be. I really would like to just knock off ten pounds. I realize some days I eat and do wonderful and just feel like I am "little-miss-"healthy" and other times I have a day(s) where I have no self-control, or I will just be an emotional eater, or I am tired, or Delaney and I just baked cookies for the fun of it, and I probably eat more than I am allotted. I went four days without a soft-drink, and I caved.

My goal is not to be on the cover of sports illustrated, I just want to lose just a few and tone my belly ( that, really, I am super proud and amazed at, that carried my sweet, sweet angel for nine months, but it definitely isn't going to be rocking a bikini anytime soon, lol!)

I have heard that the midsection "pooch" never goes away, hence "mom" jeans and other little new tricks we all are learning, right? Time flies by so fast, and like me, I am like ok, Delaney is 16-months, I should "bouncing back" by now. Granted, nursing did knock off all of my weight I gained while I was pregnant, but things. are.just.different.
I don't know if it is just me, but I think all of us women sometimes try to beat ourselves up and compare things to other, it is just human nature, but in reality, we all are beautiful, hot mamas. Realistically, I mean, I am sorry, I am not bashing on naturally flat-bellied gals after their babies, but I feel like if I did a poll, we all have mid-section issues, or am I completely off base?

Check out this yahoo article, about women's eight biggest eating mistakes. It was helpful. On anther note, I have never been a huge fan of frozen meals, but has anyone tried Weight Watchers Smart Ones? I have been wondering how they are. Goal this week, try not to have as many non-self control days.  Bottom line, I'll either keep working on it, or just stick to eating healthier and embracing what I have.  LOL!

H54F

I was glad to see I had some page views before I posted! Thanks!

H54F!

1. It amazes me how much my little Delaney is learning and growing. She is such a big little girl at her new pre-pre school, as I called it. She is liking playing with doctor's kits and farm animals...a future vet maybe? :)

2. There is a new show coming on TLC that I am pretty excited about. I am fascinated with culture(s) in general, but this show, "Breaking Amish" is about Amish wanting to explore the outside world. Don't laugh, but it looks interesting.

3. I just love Market Off Main in Campbellsville. I stopped by there today, this making my third visit there, and it just keeps growing.

4. I totally rocked out that pumpkin candle I was talking about last week, I am all about some fall.

5. Paula Dean has come out with some new "sauces". I bought the Savannah Marinade. There has not been a recipe of hers that I have not liked. So, after I marinaded some chicken, I approve her line of sauces too! Who doesn't love that woman and her "southern-ness?"

Linkin' up with my fellow High Fivers' you should join along too!

1. After nearly 16-months of being a stay-at-home mom, this momma sent Delaney to pre-preschool. I don't really like the term daycare. LOL!  I am glad that she had a good week and is socializing and learning, even though I had a hard time with it. I honestly think it will take a little bit of transition time. How did my fellow mommas do with the transition of childcare?

2. My little-bro is coming home for the weekend. I'll be anxious to hear some UK stories from him!.

3. I recently bought a Slatkin and Co. Pumpkin Candle from Bath and Body works. I have been itching to burn it even though it is not fall yet. It's not quite tha wonderful fall weather yet. :)

4. UK V UL football this weekend. No, I won't be there, and I am more of a basketball girl, but I still have to support the blue. Who doesn't love a good rivalry, anyway? :)

5. I think I am going to quit stressing about my house so much about trying keeping it spic and span. I have a toddler. I would rather spend more time with her, than vacuum everyday etc. However, I did get around to clearing out some space of Delaney's closet, because was no room for any more clothes. It looked like she had a closet full of clothes, but they are too small. I had a keep pile and sell/donate pile. Is it bad that I would go back to the sell pile and put it in the keep pile? It is so hard to part with those sentimental itty.bitty.clothes. HA! Needless to say, Delaney is proudly rocking out some new 18-month-threads that has space in the closet now.

If you blog, let me know, I would love to follow. Be sure to grab my button on my page.

It's Hot Mess Time

So, I am rockin' a headache today because I skipped my Ski or Coke of the day. Ever since this journey began I have still been drinking a non-diet soda a day, not-to-mention lemonade or other juices. All of that sugar adds up. I have said from the very beginning, weight loss, in my opinion, is trial and error. Or maybe I just need to suck-it-up and start resisting that cupcake and icecream at a birthday party and maybe just stick to one of the two.

I missed last week's update because I was just really busy! I had went from 152, back up to 155. What the heck?!? I have been walking, trying to watch what I eat, but also caving every once in a while. Not-to-mention, last week I had one of Delaney's little friends birthday party, the state fair, and my birthday weekend. To no avail, I don't know if I have lost inches and kept my weight, or I just gained some back.

I am not sugar coating this journey. It will be as raw as you can get. We are all busy moms and going through the drive-thru is fast and convenient, right? Calories are cheap, aka the dollar menu. Our health doesn't need to have a dollar price tag on it! I don't know if my metabolism has just changed or I need to watch what I eat more. Maybe it is my carb intake? I really haven't mastered this yet. Trial and Error, remember? I run around so much with my little one, you think I would be a toothpick. HA!

On another note, just rambling, but I talked to a mom of three a few weeks ago, and she was in great shape! She said it look a lot of hard work and that she ran a lot.  Is kicking up your cardio  the only thing to get the weight off? I am a walker, dancer, and jogger, if that. I.do.not.run. I admire people who do. I just don't know if I have it in me. LOL!  Wouldn't we all love a personal trainer and a personal chef, ha! This isn't the Real Housewives of well, wherever, this is mom-on-the-go, real life!

I am going to try something new(ish) for the next week or two. Instead of stressing out about how much I weigh, I will just try to stick to my guns of exercising and trying to eat right! When I update hotmess, I will update you on my progress and how I feel. Maybe judge my how my clothes are fitting? This may be a cop-out or whatever, but it is just a trial. I have really been stuck on how much I weigh and would get upset if I wasn't losing what I think I should.

Are there any other hot messes out there who want to join in on mine, Sarah, and Devan's journey? The more the merrier! Tips are always welcome!

 High Fivin'!

 1. Delaney is becoming more and more active and independent. We are taking off our diaper by ourselves, putting crayons in the DVD/VCR player, and making messes. The sweet life of a toddler right? ;)

2.Even though I missed my Hot Mess post on Monday and I am feeling extremely fat; Yes, I said fat, I will try not to stress. I have had birthday parties, the state fair, and it's my birthday weekend. Therefore, any lost pounds I am sure are back. Rome wasn't built in a day, nor is a hot mama, (well this one at least). For what it's worth, I did not eat a funnel cake at the fair. Strawberry icecream and part of a carmel apple seemed much healthier..lol

3. Fall.is.around.the.corner. Enough said.

4. Football season, if you will, is pretty much here as well. As much as I love my alma mater, I hope UK football is better than last year. I'm not joking, Joker, I know we are a basketball school and all, but that doesn't mean we can't EVER be both. LOL!

5. Going through and organizing Delaney's old clothes and cleaning the house will begin, hopefully, after I press publish on my blog. However, Delaney is trying to get in the trashcan as we speak, so that may have to wait until nap time. Mom's of toddlers, what is your cleaning schedule, or do you even have one? Good moms have sticky floors, no doubt; I am just shooting for the house to look more like a storm and not a tornado.:)

Hive Fivin':

1. Delaney who is pretty much using utensils now. We went from experimenting one day to handling it pretty well the next.  ;)

2. The amazing chocolate chip banana nut bread  that I made from the one and only Pinterest. It.was.awesome.Not good for Hot Messes!

3. The cooler weather is so nice. Fall is just around the corner.

4. My summer class ended! A 16 week class into six weeks was intense!

5. I did start my recycling back up that I talked about a couple of weeks ago. Now to find out where some recycling centers are and what they accept.

Better than nothing!

By the time I get around to posting "Hot Mess Monday," it is usually Tuesday. Let's face it, we are ALL "hot messes" on Monday, right? LOL! Well folks, I am down a pound, (153). It is a slow process for me, but at least I didn't gain or stay the same. I did do what I said last week, and not stress out AS much about every.little.thing. I ate and tried to exercise more. For the first time in a long time, I look forward to exercising. We will see how long this last, but I had a good brisk walk last night and I am already looking forward to it today. I may be tired by the end of the day, but I could be exercising instead of browsing on the internet or something.

Also, I need to improve with my water intake. I just don't drink as much as I should. Any hardcore H20 lovers out there? What are your tips? I still can't kick the one-soda-a-day. By the way, I love these old classic coca-cola ads, but I don't think I'll be modeling for them anytime soon. There needs to be an ad that says, "Coca-Cola: It goes straight to your belly, literally!"

Also, my sweet tooth gets the best of me. I may have a  good eating day and  them want something sweet, and totally ruin it if I don't do a semi-healthy sweet. My new food of the week that I tried was TCBY's frozen yogurt Chocolate Fudge Bars, (Wal-Mart now carries TCBY). They are 80 calories of greatness.

Back to my eating and meal planning, this is always an area of improvement. I don't calorie count, maybe I should? Does anyone calorie count? I sure don't know how many calories are in a yummy Mexican dish.  Do I even want to know?

My exercise routine is a start! Now on to not making my food too bland or boring. I am a "foodie", for real! If I could get paid to travel the world and be a food connoisseur, I am down for it.  I am not picky, it is just making healthier choices.

Goal for this week: Try to lose more than one pound!!!!!

As always, mamas, we (Devan, Sarah, and I) would love to share with more people in our journey. :)

Happy Friday Folks!

HiGh FiVe FoR FrIdAY

1. D-bug is officially a big-time-climber now. What am I going to do with this little monkey? Her words she is big on right now is "hug", "gink" for drink, and "mo-mato" for tomatoes, (which she loves).
2. The Olympics are still awesome when I have a chance to watch them for a bit. I may be a nerd, but I think the sychronized swimming is so graceful and beautiful. Maybe because I am a has-been ballerina. HA!

3. I would like to recycle more. Not that I wasn't aware of it before, but it just kind of dawned on me today as I was cleaning, how much plastic and cardboard that fills up the trash. I have recycled paper and cans from time to time, but  is anyone an avid recycle"er"?

4. "Hive- five" to my mom who gave Laney two-new-pair of  adorable shoes because" future WNBA Delaney" is almost in a size six for a 15-month old!

5. Oh Pinterest project of the week, how interesting you were! LOL! I was searching for activities for toddlers,  A "soap cloud" project came up, (microwave the soap to have a big mushy "cloud").  It looked fun, so as I was preparing for this activity, it called for a bar of Ivory soap. I knew I didn't have any Ivory. However, another website DID say you could use Dove soap. What.a.disaster. It did not expand. It collapsed and my kitchen smelled way too strong for just soap and had me coughing my head off. I had to turn on the vent fan and leave the house for a while. Yes, I learned from this, always follow directions. Fast forward a couple days later, I bravely bought some Ivory and had success. It was a great sensory project for Delaney. BTW, the reason Ivory expands when it is heated: http://chemistry.about.com/od/demonstrationsexperiments/a/soaptrick.htm

"Um, I'm no so sure about this stuff mom!"

"This is pretty neat-o!"

HOT MESSIN!

Late post!

No progress, but at least no more weight gain. Dieting is hard, right? Food is good! Ha! I am back to 154 lbs after gaining a pound last week!?!?  I have my good days where I eat well, and then other days not so much. I feel like I hop around a lot on what I do. I feel like I need a better routine, but on the flip-side I am still experimenting. There are tons of iPhone apps, diet plans, you name it to get you in to shape and on a healthier track, I just think there are different ones for everybody. I have a friend who I graduated UK with who is a Registered Dietitian. She mentioned doing a guest blog soon. I think that would be great to get some general insight and tips from her. I did do better at drinking water this week as I found another new water I love.  The brand of water is La Croix. It is calorie, sweetener, and sodium free, with a variety of flavors. Check out their Facebook page or website.

I think this week instead of stressing out about food so much, is adding more physical activity. Walking one or two days a week isn't going to cut it! Burn those calories, right?!?

As always, join in on our Hot Messes train and don't forget to check out Devan and Sarah's progress.

H54F

1. My sweet-pea is growing and talking more by-the-day!

2. It is fun finding new foods that are good and healthy, especially since I am trying to diet. Speaking of the grocery, I am glad I kept my cool (not that I lose my cool a lot) when I pretty-much-got-accused of stealing in Kroger!?!?! Maybe the cashier was just trying to do her job, but after checking out with a few items, (including one of Delaney's favorite snacks,  Two boxes of Kashi Strawberry Cereal Bars), I was paying and Delaney had reached into my purse where I always have a snack. It happened to be Strawberry Kashi Bar. The cashier looked at me and said, "you need this too?", pointing to the cereal bar. I explained that it was in my purse and she could look at the two boxes that she just bagged. I didn't dump and hide another box in my purse! I know there was some tension about the situation, but I don't go "Bon-Qui-Qui" on people! LOL!

3. The Olympics are on! Yay! Gabby Douglas is awesome!

4. I went to Market Off Main Street today with my madre and Delaney, and I got a.great.one.minute.massage! It was definitely worth one hundred lincoln's( pennies that is).  My mom thought I was hilarious crouched down in a massage chair.  And Delaney was crying the whole time because she thought someone was hurting her mommy.  Relaxation, yeah!

5.  I'm slowly dabbling into making more homemade things. I am not going "all pioneer woman" or anything. I just like to be domestic. I made that body scrub last week, and homemade taco seasoning this week. I have been looking into a homemade sugar wax, but it scares me. I do not want to end up without an eyebrow!

On that note, if you blog, high five with me and some of my fellow bloggers. Get the button on my page!

Talkin' on Tuesday about: Hot Mess Monday

Yesterday, I was a "hot mess" running around like crazy, I didn't get a chance to post. Like I said last week, this weight loss/healthy journey is going to be trial and error. I will honestly admit I gained a pound. Am I happy about this? Well, no! I didn't lose, but I am learning. ;)

As far as my goals from last week:
  •  I did eat my turkey everyday for lunch last week, except on Friday when I went out to eat with friend.  (That was sort-of-my-problem, going out to eat is one thing, but what you choose to get is your choice. Last week I had Cracker Barrel with my family, Saul Good with a friend, Mexican, and then went to a big cookout at a friend's house as well.)
  • I exercised twice!
  • I tried to drink more water, but this goal needs much more improvement.
I find myself trying to read health and food articles or blogs when I have time to give me insight and advice on things. Some new food/beverage items that I tried this week that made drinking water taste better is, Perrier water (which a great carbonated lemon/lime water with out any artificial sweeteners)  and Smartfood Cinnamon-Sugar Chips,(which taste similar to Taco Bell's cinnamon twist.) You can have around 20 chips for 130 calories, 21g of Carbs, and 4g of sugar. They are pretty good, and you can buy them at Kroger.

Goals for this week:

1. Keep last week's goals
2. Try to learn of some new tips from other people
3. Watch portion sizes
4. Figure out the "soda" conundrum...aka (Skis and Cokes)

Hot Mess to Hot Mama's are welcoming to anyone who wants to join in on our train. Also, anyone who want to share tips, or stories, feel free!

H54F

Late night H54F post!

1. Laney had her 15-month check-up today and had three shots, (which always stink), but thank the Lord she is healthy and growing. She is a tall girl, (33 1/4 inches, 99th percentile!) On a random note, while waiting a long time in the doctor's office, Delaney played with a little girl named, "Evangeline" and a little boy named, "Cloud", and no these are not imaginary friends. It was definitely a fun "melting pot" with all the kiddos running in the waiting room.  I struck up a conversation with Evangeline's mom, who also has two boys, and she is delaying Evangeline's vaccines because of her son's having reactions to some in the past. I did not ask or prod for more information. I just nodded and smiled. Vaccines scare me about issues too, but I think the risk of the vaccine is a usually a better outcome than an infection, right?

2. Talked to two great gals today, both are "Allison's"! I had lunch with one today at one of my favorite resturants, Saul Good and had a phone date with the other one!

3.  Earlier this week, I made a great homemade body scrub I found on pinterest. It was simple, (sugar, olive oil, lemon zest, and lemon juice.)

4. Delaney hadn't been to the local lapsit program at the library for a while. and we finally got to go this week. She had fun!

5. I can't believe my brother is leaving for college soon. I think that just kind of hit me more this week, that he is going to be rocking and rolling at UK in a matter of weeks.

Food for Thought: Mac and Cheese

Momma's Melting Pot is melting up some Mac and Cheese!!!!! Boring, yes, but if you are reading, thanks! My little one loves mac and cheese, and I am all about experimenting in the kitchen. Not-to-mention,  I think every American loves Mac and Cheese! I grew up on the "elbow macaroni and Velveeta Cheese" kind-of-thing.  I will settle for Easy Mac or something, but come on now, homemade is better, and I think all that pre-made stuff is loaded with words I can't even spell, nor pronounce.

As I was "pinterest-ing," (surely everyone knows what this term means by now,) I saw a recipe for a "one- pot" mac and cheese dish.  Tonight makes the fourth or fifth time making it, so it must be working around here! Check it out!

I like this recipe because it saves me time. I can be doing other things while I am not having to worry about: waiting for the water to boil, adding the mac, waiting on the mac, draining the mac, and then adding all the other stuff.  However, I am still experimenting with the recipe.  I use Velveeta cheese instead of shredded. Also, I omit the dry mustard and nutmeg. Maybe I should add it next time?

I am sure you are thinking how hard is it to mess up mac and cheese? It is not hard, but I would like to try different versions of mac and cheese. Can't you "sneak" veggies into certain dishes for kids? Or is there a healthier version of Mac and Cheese? Or maybe adding other ingredients to the dish from time-to-time for a little variety? I don't use real butter and I try to use low-fat milk. How do you fix your Mac and Cheese? Would ya add it to "Momma's Melting Pot?" LOL!

Hot Mess Monday

I think all of us mommas who are diving into this "weight-loss", "healthy" journey, aka, HOT MESSES to HOT MAMAS lets out a BIG, "sigh" before posting, right? It is not that I think that I am overweight, I just want to feel better and make healthier choices. I mean yeah, who doesn't love an.ice.cold.COCA.COLA, or Mexican food, or whatever else is yummy and unhealthy!?!? I don't want to torture myself, but I want to this to be a learning experience through these lifestyle changes.

As we all know, birthing a child changes your body. Everything shifts and whatnot. I am proud of my stretch marks, and my baby belly "pooch", for being my little Delaney's home for nine months. However, I think us mommas get to a point where we need some confidence back about our bodies. Maybe it is just excuses like, "I looked this way before, and it doesn't matter what I look like now," or  "we all get so busy and say we don't have time,"  and before we know it, those scales make us say, "say what?"

Maybe some of us mommas have the genes of bouncing back and others don't. I do think from what I have heard, it is genetic. If your momma had stretch marks, you are more that likely going to have them.  As far as my weight goes, I am back to pre-pregnancy weight, at 154 pounds. My optimal weight for my 5'6" frame according to, Weight Watchers, is 124-155. So, I am within a pound of being overweight!?

I am telling myself, being realistic is key. I do not think I should expect to magically "pop" back into a size TWO and weigh 125 lbs like I did when I was 18. So, I think this journey will be some trial and error, small-goal setting, and PATIENCE.

Here are some of my small goals for the week. It may not seem like a lot to start out with, but remember, being REALISTIC is key. Rome wasn't built in a day.

1. Actually eat my turkey and pop chips I bought for lunch everyday and not cave for a fast-food, quick-fix.

2. Exercise at least three days this week.

3. Drink more water. Point Blank.

Any tips, websites, or other mommas that want to join us, are welcome!

H54F

I am giving a shout out to my momma friends and fellow bloggers who are getting me back on the blogging train, (I still need to work on some formatting issues). :) So, why not start with "High Five Friday".  If you blog, grab their button on my page and join in. From the creator of High Five for Friday: it is a weekly post about your five favorite things recently. It's a chance to stop and reflect on the things that you've enjoyed over the past week, which is something we should all do.

1. My sweet baby is growing, changing, and talking more everyday!

 2. I am joining my friend's Devan and Sarah, for a healthy lifestyle/weight-loss journey. (More posts explaining that later).
3. Even though the economy is rough, and I can't find a job in my degree area at the moment, I am taking some classes this summer, for a back-up. High-five for making a B on a super, hard exam!

4. I love Walgreen's free-photo offers. I scored four, free, 5X7's with a promo-code. I will try and remember to share their codes on here.

5. Even though the rain is dreary, I am thankful that we are receiving it. That equals a cool-down in the weather, and a relief for the crops, (which equal amazing food from the family garden).

Don't forget to grab my button if you blog!
